40 Commonly Used VPN Networks Keep Logs
Many of the VPNs listed below are very popular but do keep logs of some kind.
“A number of VPNs openly collect and even sell, user data,” notes VPN Mentor, which originally published the list below. “Those services openly state their practices in their privacy policies. However, there are several VPNs that claim to be no-log services but have later produced detailed user data.”

All of the above VPN options are great if you value your privacy and don’t want your data being logged. My personal favorite and the one I use on ALL my devices is NordVPN.Why? Simple: it’s lightning-fast, it uses state-of-the-art encryption, and NordVPN does not track or log your browsing sessions.

Why You Don’t Want A VPN That Logs Your Data
The entire point of using a VPN is to keep your online activities and data private. You want to browse the web safely, free from advertisers and cookies, so why the hell would anyone use a VPN that logs your activities? It makes no sense.
The #1 reason most do is simply that they don’t know their data is being logged; most VPNs tuck this fact away inside the T&Cs when you sign up. This is why it is ALWAYS important to read the terms and conditions of any software or application you download; it mostly concerns your data and how it’s accessed and shared.
NordVPN, as well as all the other top no-logging VPNs in the table above, do retain some information on you, but this is essential information that is required to run the service; things like your email address and payment details. Once you’re using the VPN, however, all activity remains private and secure.
What About Free VPNs? Are They Safe?
No, free VPNs are definitely not safe. Free VPNs are free for a reason: your data. They want it so they can sell it off to the highest bidder, usually third-party advert networks. This is the cost of “FREE” in the VPN niche; you don’t pay anything to use the VPN, but they profit from your data which, in turn, is sold off to ad networks and other third-parties.
And if that wasn’t enough to put you off of free VPNs for life, you might want to check out the Hola VPN scandal that happened a few years back. Again, this kind of stuff is rife in the world of VPNs. Most free VPNs operate outside the jurisdiction of the west, so they can pretty much do whatever they like. And when you’re talking about your private data, do you really want to change this?
You should 100% be using a VPN. It makes the web better, keeps your data safer, and protects you from hackers and entities that are keen to harvest your data. With a VPN installed on your phone, you can connect to any network and browse safely. You might even get a faster connection too, as VPNs get around network throttling. Handy if your airport’s WiFi sucks, right?
And if you want my advice for the best VPN right now, go with NordVPN. I’ve been using Nord for years, and it has consistently impressed me with its speed and security features.
